Carrying around an actual computer is now possible since we have USB sticks that you can use to store all the basic utilities you need and use the same on other computers irrespective of platform and OS. These USB sticks don't cost a fortune and can be carried out and about in your pockets. Further, a number of apps have been converted into portable versions so you can make the best use of them on the go! Here's a list of must have apps if you're looking to carry around your own pocket computer!
1.FreeOTFE
Open source on-the-fly disk encryption (OTFE) computer program for PCs running Microsoft Windows that creates virtual drives, or disks, to which anything written is automatically encrypted before being stored on a computer's hard/USB drive.
2.Spybot - Search & Destroy Portable
Freeware spyware and adware removal computer program compatible with Microsoft Windows 95 and later. It scans the computer hard disk and/or RAM for malicious software.
3.ClamWin Portable
ClamWin antivirus packaged as a portable app. ClamWin is free, open source antivirus software for Microsoft Windows. It provides a graphical user interface to the Clam AntiVirus engine.
4.Recuva
Data recovery program for Windows that is able to recover files that have been permanently deleted and marked by the operating system as free space. The program can also be used to recover files deleted from USB flash drives, memory cards, or MP3 players.
5.VLC Media Player Portable
VLC media player packaged as a portable app. Portable, free and open-source, cross-platform media player and streaming media server that supports many audio and video compression methods and file formats, including DVD-Video, video CD and streaming protocols.
6.GIMP Portable
Image editor packaged as a portable app. Raster graphics editor used for image retouching and editing, free-form drawing, resizing, cropping, photo-montages, converting between different image formats, and more specialised tasks.
7.LibreOffice
Free and open source office suite that comprises programs to do word processing, spreadsheets, slideshows, diagrams and drawings, maintain databases, and compose math formulae.
8.7-Zip Portable
7-Zip packaged as a portable app. Open source file archiver, or an application used to compress files that operates with the 7z archive format, but can read and write several other archive formats.
9.KeePass Classic Password Safe Portable
KeePass Password Safe packaged as a portable app. Free, open source, cross-platform and light-weight password management utility for Microsoft Windows, with unofficial ports for Linux, Mac OS X, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
10.Mozilla Firefox
Free and open-source web browser developed for Windows, OS X, and Linux, with a mobile version for Android. Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine to render web pages, which implements current and anticipated web standards.
